Porch & Entry
Your front entry is the first thing guests see, and the light beside the door does a lot of work. It welcomes people, helps you find your keys and makes the house look cared for from the street. Our porch and entry collection includes exterior wall lights like the Calibo Becard and Atom Samba, coach lights from CLA and Cougar, and Atom sensor lights.
Lighting the front door
- PairsA light either side of the door looks balanced. One beside the handle side works for narrower entries.
- HeightMount about 1.7 to 1.8 m above the step, around eye level.
- SizeChoose a light around a quarter to a third of the door's height.
- SensorAdd a sensor light nearby so the path lights as you arrive.
Questions we get asked
How big should a front door light be?
Around a quarter to a third of the door height. Bigger usually looks better than smaller from the street.
What colour light suits a front entry?
Warm white, 2700K to 3000K, feels welcoming.
Do I need an IP rating for a covered porch?
Yes. Choose IP44 or higher even under cover.
