Outdoor Heaters
A good outdoor heater turns your alfresco into a year round room. We stock radiant electric and gas heaters from Bromic, Heatstrip and Heatscope, including the Bromic Tungsten and Platinum Smart-Heat ranges, so you can keep using the deck long after summer ends.
Getting the coverage right
- Measure where you sitSize the heater to the area you actually use, not the whole deck.
- Rough sizingA 2,000W to 2,400W electric heater warms a zone of around 6 to 9 m². A 3,000W to 3,400W heater covers around 10 to 16 m². Bigger areas usually need two heaters.
- Mounting heightMost radiant heaters sit around 2.1 to 3 m high. Check each model's clearances.
- Electric or gasElectric is simple to install and suits covered areas. Gas gives more heat for larger or more open spaces.
Questions we get asked
Should I buy an electric or gas outdoor heater?
Electric heaters are easier to install, cleaner and great for covered alfrescos. Gas heaters put out more heat and suit bigger, more open spaces, but need a gas connection and plenty of ventilation.
Can outdoor heaters get wet?
Many electric models are rated for outdoor use under cover. Check the IP rating, and keep heaters out of direct rain unless the listing says otherwise.
Do outdoor heaters need an electrician?
Hardwired electric heaters need a licensed electrician, and gas heaters need a licensed gasfitter. Some smaller electric models plug into a weatherproof power point.
