Lighting
Thousands of lights from brands we know and trust, chosen by a family that has supplied the Hunter's electricians since 1997. Whether you're replacing one tired fitting or lighting a whole new build, start with the room and the job the light needs to do. We'll help with the rest.
Where to start
- Pick the job firstAmbient light fills the room, task light helps you cook or read, and accent light shows off a feature. Most rooms look best with a bit of all three.
- Get the colour right2700K to 3000K is warm and relaxed for living rooms and bedrooms. 4000K is crisp and clear for kitchens, bathrooms and laundries. Tri-colour fittings let you switch between them.
- Check the fitCeiling height, cut-out size and IP rating decide what will work in a space before style even comes into it.
Questions we get asked
How many lights does a room need?
Most living rooms feel right with one main light source plus two or three lamps or wall lights. Kitchens need more, with even light across the benches from downlights or pendants. If you want a proper plan, our free lighting design service will map it out with you.
Do I need an electrician to install a light?
For anything hardwired, yes. In Australia any fixed 240V wiring has to be done by a licensed electrician. Plug-in lamps and globes are the jobs you can do yourself.
Can I see the lights before I buy?
Yes. Our Thornton showroom has fittings on display and switched on, so you can see the real colour and glow. Can't get to us? Give us a call and we'll talk you through it.
